Real Mum (And Daughter!) Review: Villa Maria

Real Mum Review: Villa Maria Diary

Recently we sent mum of three Katie and her family to our most popular child-friendly resort, Villa Maria. Not only did Katie write a diary about what she thought of her family holiday, but her 5 year old daughter Sophia also told us what she made of it!

Katie's Diary Villa Maria

Day 1

We were picked up from the airport by Villa Maria which made everything very easy.  A quick 20 mins and we were in the hotel and swept through to our villa.  After an amazing first meal where the staff looked after us and the children superbly, we had an absolutely blissful evening with the kids snuggled under duvets outside on the sunloungers in our garden watching the shooting stars!  It was so warm we all feel asleep.

Day 2

A day chilling out by the pools whilst the kids dipped in and out of the 3 different swimming pools and our 1 year old splashed happily about in the baby pool.  We discovered the amazing Champagne breakfasts – I think the kids went up for 3 different courses and we took our time over the amazing selection whilst the children went to play in the play room downstairs.

Lunch was ordered in the villa whilst we chilled with a game of cards before sipping cocktails in the afternoon sun whilst the children played happily.

Day 3

Another amazing breakfast.  I could get used to this!  We decided to take a stroll out of the complex and 10 mins walk down the hill is the sea and a lovely walk along the promenade stopping for a quick coffee and hot chocolate before strolling back to one of the amazing tapas restaurants for lunch.

The afternoon was spent in the pools again and then trying out one of the 42 different gins on the menu with a fantastic gin and tonic accompanied by an amazing display by the barman.

Day 4

Another breakfast and some more champagne – I definitely need to do some exercise so we check out the gym downstairs.  We then head to the playpark and the kids play in the sand pit and on the slides whilst we sit and bask in the early morning sun.  As soon as the pool is open the kids are in like a shot and the rest of the morning is spent watching them enjoying themselves.  Lunch is at the pool bar followed by a quick round of putting golf before retiring to the villa for a rest.

More cocktails (or mocktails for the children) in the afternoon sun and the playroom has hosted activities so we are able to relax with the kids entertained for the next few hours.

A kids disco is held at 6 everyday and after that we head to the restaurant for a lovely family meal.

Day 5

We head to the beach today and discover some amazing fun things to do on the coast.  The kids enjoyed getting wet and building sand castles and paddling in the sea.  We caught the easy shuttle bus in from Villa Maria and were picked up a few hours later after grabbing a smoothie from the giant strawberry shop on the front.

The rest of the afternoon is once again relaxing by the pool whilst the kids made friends with some other guests and they then headed to the organised activities whilst we enjoyed an afternoon tea.

We had a baby sitter for the evening meal so we could enjoy a relaxing couples’ dinner without the kids

Day 6

We headed home after breakfast. Once again shuttled by the Villa Maria driver making the whole experience incredibly relaxing and easy.  We plan to return again later in the year.

Daughter Sophia’s Diary

Sophia's diary

We watched shooting stars and went in the hot tub.

The pool was a bit cold so we went in the baby pool – they gave us cocktails with fruit on the side and a straw

We are allowed to have as much breakfast as we like so I had cereal, pain au chocolate, strawberries and sausages!

I like playing in the sand pit and the swimming pool best.

At the beach they had these big blow up play things in the sea and you had to swim out to go on it but we didn’t go on it.

Mummy bought us a strawberry smoothie from the big red strawberry shop.

It is hot here and we get to wear shorts and T-shirt all the time.  There is a disco and mummy and daddy went upstairs to have some alcohol whilst we danced.

Esme (Sophia’s baby sister) liked me pushing her around on the truck from the play room and I played with my friend that I met every day and went swimming with her.

Our villa was just next to the pool so when we came out of our door we just had to run a bit and then splash.  We had to wait for mummy and daddy to hurry up.
