“We Love Tots to Travel” – A Guest Blog from My Brood Stories

Recently, mummy and lifestyle blogger April Smith, AKA My Brood Stories, whisked her family away on a holiday to Green Garden Resort in Tenerife. After having such a wonderful time, April wanted to share her first experience with TOTS with the world! We love hearing such lovely stories, and we’re delighted to share April’s with you…

How did I hear about Tots to Travel?

The Tots to Travel posts were popping up on my feed offering child friendly holidays in various locations. We usually book through the well-known travel companies as you can normally be assured of a good hotel and facilities. By booking with a new company we didn’t really know anything, so it was all about stepping out of our comfort zone!

I priced various package holidays to Tenerife and surprisingly Tots to Travel worked out to be nearly £900 cheaper! How could this be? There must be some sort of catch…

I called their friendly customer services a few times to ask them questions about booking, and each time they were very helpful and informative. The staff had visited the hotel we were going to, this made me feel more at ease. They answered any questions I had regarding my holiday.

To help us travel light, we filled out a child and baby kit list online. We picked the items that we would like to be at the hotel (all of which was included in the price) The list included everything from bed guards to baby monitors, making you feel like this holiday is bespoke and made especially for you.

A deposit of £99 was required to secure the booking and the holiday must be paid in full 10 weeks prior to departure. Flights to be booked separate. After booking, Tots to travel sent me a travel passport where I could log in and see info like transfer booking details, a full run down of the hotels facilities and could amend my child and baby kit at any time.

First impressions

We arrived at 10pm on Tuesday evening, tired and weary from the travelling. It was lovely for Tots to Travel to recognise we had arrived safely by sending a text to say that if we needed anything, we could give them a call anytime.

I had booked an airport transfer through a recommendation on my travel passport. Reasonably priced and car seats included. A short transfer later and we arrived at the hotel.

I was crossing fingers and toes that our accommodation would be at the least clean. As we had my mum and dad in tow, I didn’t want to disappoint them either. WOW… it really blew my expectations…

Lovely friendly reception staff greeted us at the Resort in the beautiful and impressive entrance hall. My first impressions where “I hope this hotel isn’t too posh for the kids!” I couldn’t have been more wrong. The hotel apartment was immaculate and obviously newly decorated.

The children’s room was equipped with toys and story books for various ages. The bathroom came equipped with potty, toilet seat, non-slip mat and a step for the kids to reach the toilet/sink. The kitchen was child friendly with plastic crockery, steriliser, food processor and bottle warmer.

In the main room there was a cot bed and more toys. The balcony was spacious with a dining set and sofa seating, a round lounge bed, 2 clothes dryers and a child mat for playing on the ground. As we had missed the evening buffet, in the fridge in our room were 2 plates of cold meats, cheeses, salads and bread in there for us to snack on, how thoughtful!

This place really was child friendly, and all my items from my online child and baby kit was there plus more! I was blown away at the detail and lengths they have gone to, like a home from home, Immediately I felt relief.

Kids activities

Kids activities for the week was anything from messy play, face painting and discos. What really caught my eye was the kid’s pyjama breakfast which started at 7.30am! This was just perfect for our early risers. No need to try and contain them in the room until breakfast!

There was also the option to leave them with the kid’s entertainers and have our own adult breakfast in peace. The kids club was organised by two girls who were great with the children… they also arranged a family beach visit in the free shuttle bus. The kids were never bored, from playing in one of the 3 pools to chilling out in the play areas.

The food

Usually with all-inclusive we can begin to get a bit tired of the food set up the hotel offers, by the end of the week I’m usually just craving some homemade soup. However, this wasn’t the case!

The food provided at Green Garden was outstanding and so tasty. With great variation we were never tired of the food. A low height children’s buffet area was easy to reach for the kids, so they could help themselves. Fussy eaters? No problem! This hotel has got it covered. Even coco pops for dinner if you wished like Malachy did, the hotel accommodated this no questions asked.

Everyday there was a soup on, lots of choices of meats and a salad section to die for. The food was good and varied which everyone in our family group thoroughly enjoyed. Probably a little too much going by the scales when I weighed myself when I got home!

Snacks were supplied between meal times. This was one of the reasons we decided to go all-inclusive as the kids snack all day long and the costs mount up. The snacks were pastries, fruit, ice cream, crisps and sandwiches so again plenty choice. There was even unlimited soft drinks and alcoholic drinks on tap.

The choice to dine at the ala carte restaurant for 2 nights was included in the price. We went child free one of the nights (of course we had to, it is one of the reasons the grandparents came along!) However, we dined as a big group the second time and there was a great children’s menu too.

Green Garden

Green Garden Resort makes up for its name as the greenery around this hotel gives it an exotic feel. The little fairy gardens in amongst the trees are adorable. A walk along the Tots Boulevard kept them entertained if they fancied a change from the pool.

They could also choose to play on the pirate ship climbing frame, giant building block area and in the two shaded sand pits. The giant tree house and indoor play room with endless toys was another great addition!

Green Garden Resort is a great holiday for all generations, the fun activities for the younger ones and the relaxing areas like in one of the cabanas for the older generation.

We Love Tots to Travel

Tots to Travel really made this holiday a breeze, straight from booking. It’s plain to see this company are passionate and love what they do, ensuring families have a safe and enjoyable holiday without the stress.

The apartments were so well presented and appointed it was like a bespoke holiday with everything you needed there on arrival. Tots to Travel had everything in place by going that extra mile at this hotel, making it enjoyable and relaxing even with 3 kids in tow.

I would definitely book with Tots to Travel again and have no doubts recommending to friends and family. If the kids are happy the parents are delighted. Thank you Tots to Travel for a lovey holiday which blew my expectations right out the window.
