Butler Family, October 2018
We had a wonderful time thank you and the pool temperature was great, we used it every day I think! We have taken away some very special memories from our trip and would love to visit again sometime.
Wiltshire Family, September 2018
we had a wonderful time. The little ones keep talking about our ‘holiday house’ and want to get back on the plane to come back :-) It is a fantastic place. We absolutely loved it.
Family stayed July 2018
We had a wonderful time at the Mill. I’m sure we will be back some time.
Family stayed June 2018
We had a fantastic time. Such a beautiful spot. Already in discussions about next year's holiday - very possible that we may come back!
Messenger Family, April 2018
We had a blast. Lovely house, great people and fantastic location.
Lott Family August 2016
Lovely, lovely gite, with lots of thoughtful touches - to include the toys put out for the children in their rooms, the fridge full of food on arrival and the toiletries in the bathroom. The pool was one of the best we have ever been in, wonderful! And the games room was brilliant - pool and table tennis a big hit. Thank you.
The Thompson Family, July 2017
We had a lovely stay at the Watermill. The facilities for our 3 year old were excellent, probably the highlight of the property: lots of toys to keep him entertained; bike seats; buggies; kitchen equipment for the younger ones; blackout blinds etc. With a car, the property was in a great location; not so easy to walk places with less mobile family members. Grandparents found the stairs and steps a challenge, but fine for younger families. Kitchen was well stocked with crockery, pans, equipment etc which made cooking and BBQ-ing easy. Lots of fans to keep us cool in the July heat. Bikes were a nice option, with great bike seats for kids. We had a lovely time.
The Cummins Family, September 2016
We had a fantastic holiday. Our every need was catered for and we are very grateful to the hosts nd her team for giving us such a lovely week.
The Burridge family, September 2016
Fantastic location, lovely pool. Great local village and town and two delicious restaurants.
The Baylis Family, May 2016
Thank you, this has been a wonderful and relaxing holiday. The children have truly enjoyed themselves and the accommodation was great. The toys, books, and general facilities for the children are excellent and I will recommend you to others. Thanks again.
The Chong Family, May 2016
We had a lovely time there despite of the weather. Thanks so much for making our home away "sweet home". Our kids love our "new home" there.
The MacDonald Family, September 2015
We had a great time on holiday and your hospitality was fantastic.
The Smith Family, July 2015
The accommodation was incredibly, we didn't want for anything!
The Paulson Family, June 2015
Our two boys (2 and 4) had a fantastic time and loved playing with all the new toys but more than anything they loved the pool. All of the facilities take much of the stress of holidaying with little ones away. We will certainly recommend.
The Swire Family, August 2014
We had a wonderful time at the Water Mill. Fantastic accommodation, facilities and location. The apartment was beautifully done, and we think pretty much everything had been thought of (from toys and dvds for the children, to torches, tupperware and shopping bags); we also really appreciated the supply of holiday rental essentials (washing tabs, bin bags etc) being generous - much better than most other places we have been to. The playground and games room were great, and the pool lovely: warm, with seating both in the sun and shade. The location was super - a shortish drive from the airports, NImes, Montepellier, and the sea for easy daytrips, Sommieres, only 5 minutes drive away, was beautiful, with an atmospheric weekend market, and Salinelles, which is easily walkable, was very pretty and has an excellent little bakery. Best of all was spending evenings on the balcony gazing up at a ridiculously star-filled sky watching the bats and listening to the owls! Idyllic.
The Cochrane Family, 2013
We had a lovely holiday - thank you. The watermill is a delight and all the added extras really made the holiday personal.
Family stayed July 2011
Fantastic setting and outdoor space. Pool is amazing - we spent so much time in it. Well equipped for children - great playroom and pool

A wonderful, wonderful spot... Amazing gites beautifully done out. Pool is fantastic and a location to die for. We would definitely return. We've loved every minute.

This first floor holiday home is accesses via a wonderful old stone staircase (gated top and protected at the bottom). The high ceilings, old beams and stone floors and walls mean that the main living area is cool, light and airy. Laid out over one floor (excluding the triple bedroom), see property floorplan in the main image gallery.
Massette has its own private, fenced off terrace area down at the bottom of the entrance steps. You can enjoy a barbecue here or a gentle and relaxed evening with views over the enclosed children's play area and mini football pitch.
The heated, enclosed pool is shared with the other two properties here and has views overlooking the river. It is a saltwater pool which is much kinder on skin. In addition the pool is enclosed for safety. Relax by the pool and take in the views of the fields with horses, the river and the old stone bridge.
The Water Mill has a communal children's playroom packed with toys which is a great option for some time out of the sun.
If you can be tempted away from the pool, this is an excellent area for walks from the doorstep or gentle cycle rides with a range of bikes available to borrow. There is a small river beach in the grounds which you can kayak from.
Part of the delight of The Water Mill is the total peace and tranquillity as it sits in two hectares of land along the Vidourle River and has no neighbours.
There are plenty of places to explore within easy reach of the watermill which makes it a perfect place for family holidays in France.
A short drive away (5 minutes) is the quaint town of Sommieres with its cobbled streets, boutiques, bars and restaurants.
There is fabulous weekly market here as well as special night markets that run throughout July and August and a medieval fete in April.
In addition there is a museum to celebrate the life and works of the author Laurence Durrell who lived in Sommiers for a time.
If you have keen riders within your party, there is a choice of riding stables within just 15 minutes' from the Watermill. Simply ask the team at the Watermill to organise this for you. Alternatively, how about a sunset ride on the beach down near Stes Maries de la Mer. Again this can easily be organised for you.
The beautiful cities of Montpellier and Nimes are 30 minutes' drive away and provide a wealth of things to explore. The Romans were very influential Nimes and there is plenty of evidence of their domination still to be seen. The Roman amphitheatre at Nimes nowadays plays host to music concerts such as Elton John and Dido as well as the traditional bull fights.
The famous ‘Feria' at Nimes are held on bank holidays throughout the year when the city comes alive and celebrates in style. This is when the bulls are famously run through the street.
The exciting and vibrant city of Montpellier is an absolute ‘must see' and preferably should be explored on foot. Nip down the back streets to find hidden squares, wonderful architecture and plenty of lively places to stop for a break.
The heart of Montpellier is La Place De La Comedie, an egg shaped centre with its lively bars, cafes, shops and the Opera House. The real gems however are hidden in the back streets where passages and quiet streets open out into squares playing host to more bars, restaurants, churches and beautiful architecture.
For indoor activities, there is plenty of choice. The Aquarium, a planetarium, indoor climbing courses, ice skating, and cinemas with English movies provide something for all ages and all interests.
However it's the beaches in this area that are a great hit and provide memorable family holidays in France.
The sandy beaches in this part of the Mediterranean provide a perfect playground for babies and toddlers and there is a wide choice of beaches, from the lively and easy to get to, to the hidden away beaches that require more effort to get there.
The beaches are just 30 minutes from the Watermill and we suggest that you ask for recommendations when you are there.
There are plenty of other must-sees in this area, in fact many more than you'll squeeze into your holiday, but do add the Pont Du Gard (an amazing Roman aqueduct), the beautiful city of Avignon and the Haribo Sweet Museum to your shortlist.
For wine lovers, it's worth noting that this region has made significant progress in the last 20 years and now produces world class wine. The best way to sample the wines is to book a private wine tasting tour, complete with a chauffeur.
English speaking private yoga classes & Shiatzu massage can be arranged, simply ask!
Book a professional (English speaking) photographer to take fabulous photos of your happy and relaxed family. Enquire to find out more.
Simply ask the team at The Water Mill to organise this for you.
