Blizzard Family, September 2019
We had a lovely time at the Old Mill. The children loved the pool and the chickens. Collecting eggs every morning was their highlight. It is a very rural setting so a car is a necessity.
Boardman Family, September 2018
The location was fantastic as it was very peaceful. We all loved the pool which was all you could hope for and was really clean.
Pearmain Family, May 2018
The Old Mill is an idyllic location from which to explore this part of Tuscany. Or just sit back and enjoy the pool, paddling in the stream and relax. The facilities of The Old Mill are excellent and there is ample running around space for little ones. Our children made use of the outside play toys and loved checking for freshly laid eggs (although the chickens were very lazy during our visit). The host is a mine of information about the local area, and gave us some great ideas for exploring the locality. We were staying during May half term and the pool temperature was great for swimming; we were in it every day. We hope to return; so many more places to meander around, food to taste and wine to enjoy.
Counsell Family, May 2018
A very peaceful retreat, with loads of space for our 2 year old to run and play. Loads of wildlife to see and enjoy (deers coming out from the forest, lizards basking in the sun, chickens whose eggs you can collect each morning). A sizeable swimming pool, which was unheated so one for the brave in the cooler months but gorgeous on the hotter days. the hosts were very accommodating and helpful and whilst being nearby were always sure to give us complete privacy and space. You do need a car as it’s a drive to the nearest small town and the closest big supermarket is about 20-30 mins away. But that’s also part of its charm. A very enjoyable holiday with lots of happy memories. Thank you
Jones Family, May 2018
Excellent stay at this stunning property. Everything we needed for a 5 month baby and 21month toddler was provided for making it stress free for us. Fantastic pool area, grounds and the chickens were a real highlight.
The Quentin-Hicks Family, August 2016

The Russell Family, May 2014
It was a perfect break for our family.

'A great place to get away!' We stayed at The Old Mill for a week and can only recommend it. It is a fabulous property, beautifully renovated and cared for. We were made to feel very welcome by Paul and Sofia (and the dog too!). The kids (aged 4 and 2) loved the space, the open gardens to play in (in complete safety too), the playground equipment and most of all visiting the hens to collect eggs each morning. The surrounding area is quiet by Tuscan standards but full of hidden treasures, and the tourist sights of Sienna, Florence and so on are within driving distance for day trips. Not to be missed is the pizza restaurant in the nearby village, serving the most amazing pizzas! We had a fantastic holiday. We will return!

A beautiful place and peaceful location. I cannot praise The Old Mill enough. Paul and Sofia the owners have created a truly beautiful property in a peaceful area of Tuscany. The fenced off pool and enclosed extensive grounds are ideal for young children to play safely. My daughter (aged 4) loved feeding the chickens and collecting eggs for breakfast every day along with fresh veg and fruit from the allotment. She had plenty of space to run around and play ball, and she thoroughly enjoyed the swings and slide. The property itself was immaculate and clean with very good amenities and Gina the housekeeper even taught us how to make pasta! Paul and Sofia made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you so much for a very special holiday. We hope to return soon!

From every room, The Old Mill has stunning views across the surrounding countryside, giving you a true sense of the privacy in the villa and grounds.
This stunning Tuscan villa has been fully restored into a traditional country house with beautiful chestnut beamed ceilings and terracotta tiles.
The downstairs has been converted into an open plan kitchen and dining area to one side and a lovely summer room on the other.
The fully-fitted kitchen has a dishwasher and microwave with a wooden dining table and doors out to the garden; two small steps lead through to the summer room.
A great place to chill out in the mornings, the summer room has comfy sofas and fully stocked bookshelves; a door leads through to a downstairs loo, where there is a washing machine.
Gated stairs lead up from the kitchen to the family living room on the first floor with three comfy sofas, a great spot to chill out and watch a DVD in the evenings before bed.
Two double bedrooms are on this floor, one with an en suite bathroom and one with an en suite shower room; gated stairs lead up to a third bedroom on the upper floor, which has an en suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower cubicle.
Two of the double bedrooms can be set up as twins, if necessary, and each room has plenty of room for a cot.
As soon as you approach The Old Mill along the sweeping lane, you’ll get a real sense of ‘getting away from it all’; the villa is surrounded by fields with beautiful fruit trees.
From the kitchen, step out onto a wooden pergola with a dining table and barbecue, perfect for fun family meals al fresco – you can even help yourself to fresh eggs from the chickens and fresh produce from the vegetable garden.
Wander down to the enclosed lawns, where there are football nets for fun family games, and a play area with swings and a slide; the hens are a little further down.
The pool area is fully enclosed on a separate terrace; wander up the steps and through the gate and you’ll find the large pool with plenty of poolside sun loungers and a solar powered shower.
Embrace the beautiful countryside and relaxed Italian lifestyle at the Old Mill; if you wander out through the garden gates, there is a river a short walk away where you can paddle and explore in the shade of the trees.
Local Towns and Villages
The surrounding areas have lots of little towns and villages with plenty of parks for the little ones to play in; great food can be found almost everywhere in the lovely local restaurants and handmade ice cream counters.
If you fancy exploring, take a stroll around the wooded hillside paths and wander around the flower meadows; if you are visiting in the autumn, gather some chestnuts that you can take back to the villa and roast in the chestnut roaster.
If you are passionate about food, then Tuscany is the right place to visit; taste the local produce and visit the events that happen all year, including wine tasting, mushroom and truffle hunting and local cooking lessons.
The house owners are usually on site and can offer advice on where to explore, play or eat.
