Indoors & Outdoors

Olivia's contemporary interior and outdoor spaces make it easy to enjoy a relaxing holiday in this special villa.

Combining traditional design with ground-breaking and ecologically-advanced construction techniques, Olivia features the resort's signature ‘Coolhouse' system which brings cooled air inside through underground tubes to ensure a regulated temperature day and night.  Heating is also installed if needed out of season.

The spacious and stylish open plan living area, comprising the sitting room, dining space and kitchen, is flooded with light from three sets of French doors opening onto the covered terrace.

The sitting room has leather sofas and chairs, with a large, flat screen LCD television and DVD player for entertainment.  This is the perfect relaxing place to escape the heat of the sun or curl up together in the evening.

The dining area, with a light beech table and chairs, has seating for up to eight.

The fully-fitted kitchen, with granite worktops, is well-equipped with an oven/hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washer/dryer and separated by a breakfast bar.

There are two double bedrooms which are light and spacious with ample space for a cot.

One has an en suite wet room, adapted to be used by guests in a wheelchair with a pull-down seat and hand rails in the shower and hand rails next to the loo.

The other has double French doors opening onto the garden and an en suite has a corner shower.

The third bedroom is a large and pretty twin.

The final bedroom is designed for children with a tall platform single bed (suitable for older children only) which has two pull-out beds underneath, making it a twin or a triple if required.  The maximum occupancy of seven people plus cots may not be exceeded.

A modern family-sized bathroom completes the accommodation.

From the hallway a staircase, with a child safety gate at the bottom, leads up to a roof terrace with lovely far-reaching views over the garden and resort beyond.

This is a great get-away-from-it-all space for the grown-ups when the children are in bed.

Parent points:

  • The open tread staircase and banister design in the hall could encourage children to climb.  There is a child safety gate across the doorway to the living areas to prevent access to the hallway and the stairs to the roof terrace are gated at the bottom. An extra gate is available for the top if required.
  • The roof terrace is secure with a wall all the way around to 1.5 m height. Children should only be allowed on the roof terrace when supervised by an adult.

There is a great deal about this lovely family-friendly and fully-enclosed garden to enjoy.

The focal point of the outside space is undoubtedly the inviting 9m x 4.5m heated swimming pool, which has the shallow end closest to the terrace.  For safety, the pool has an electric cover for when it is not in use and the raised edge makes the garden an area safe for those in a wheelchair.

It's easy to keep an eye on the children in the pool, or simply unwind with a good book, from the sun loungers on the lawned garden.

The south-facing terrace provides plenty of space to relax and has contemporary outdoor seating and a dining table, plus a barbecue for rustling up al fresco meals.  A large sail shade provides protection from the Algarvian sunshine.

The lawn has space for little ones to kick a ball and play.

At the front, the villa has parking for up to three cars plus a small garden and lawn.

Parent points:

  • There are three steps up to swimming pool
  • The front driveway opens onto the road, which is only used by resort traffic, but children should be supervised at all times when at the front of the villa
  • Take care if you are adventuring further afield, as there is a limekiln monument on the grounds, where there is a drop; it is in a remote part of the resort but if you do come across this, please take care

The resort is a great family destination with lots to ensure the whole family has a fantastic holiday.

Tennis Club

The tennis club has four floodlit synthetic grass courts and equipment available to hire and coaching sessions, for all ages and abilities can be booked with the resident coach.

Children's Playground

Mini Football Pitch

Adults and children will find this grass pitch is perfect for five-a-side football or a knockabout with friends.

Book in for some well-deserved pampering and choose from a wide choice of treatments.  Individual and tailored week-long wellness programmes are also available, designed to optimise your energy levels and sense of well-being.

The golden sandy beach is popular with families and has an excellent beach bar.

Praia da Luz

Lagos is the largest town in the area and 20 minutes from the resort.

Popular with tourists, who come to explore the streets of the old town, Lagos still manages retains its traditional charm.

There is a super five kilometre long golden sandy beach ideal for picnics, paddling and sandcastle building and the kids will love the 'pirate ship' trip on an old Portuguese Cravelle.

The Saturday morning farmers' market - Portuguese style and very different to those in the UK and France - has lots of home-grown produce.

While the busy fish market, which has a top floor restaurant with stunning views over Lagos Bay, opens early every day.

If you are feeling peckish there are a lots of child-friendly restaurants and pavement cafes lining the cobbled streets.

In the summer evenings the town square is busy with people watching the street entertainers.

For the children, head for the popular Lagos Zoo, the fun Children's Science Centre or go-karting at the Autodromo.

For a traditional Portuguese experience travel further afield to the pretty town of Loule, famous for the imposing walls of the 13th century castle

About an hour away from Villa Olivia, there are art galleries, a museum, several interesting churches and lots of cafes and shops in the criss-crossing network of cobbled streets.

The daily market is a lively affair and there are music festivals during the summer.

There's no shortage of great golf courses in Portugal, the Algarve is famous for them.  There are several suitable for skilled players and those less experienced within a short drive of Villa Olivia.

And More...
