Calvo Family, august 2019
We had a wonderful stay at Hibou. My sons loved the pool, the play barn, feeding the chickens and playing in the large gardens. The hosts could not have been more accommodating, giving us helpful recommendations on places to eat and visit during our stay. We loved the daily cakes baked for us and the honesty larder was a great idea which we made good use of. The area is beautiful and we had great days out at the Pink Granite Coast, the Emerald Coast and the nearby Lac de Guerlédan. Would highly recommend as a great place to go!
Evans Family, May 2019

The most amazing villa absolutely perfect for us. Everything was thought of it really was our best family holiday. The area is beautiful and there are plenty of lovely welcoming restaurants near by as well as stunning lakes. Only an hour from a beautiful beach and the town of Binic which is a must for seafood lovers! All in all fantastic thanks to the hosts and Tots for recommending this villa

The Vince Family, June 2016
We Loved the gite. The hosts were so very helpful and accommodating unfortunately the weather was not kind and we had rain most days. When the sun shone the pool was lovely and the children especially enjoyed it even when overcast.
The McKay Family, July 2016
We have just enjoyed a lovely relaxing break in Hibou. Pauline and Geof made us feel so welcome. The house was very comfortable, and everything for our 3 boys was thought of - from night lights, the play barn, and bath toys for the kids, to cake and wine for the grown ups. The honesty larder was so helpful, it had everything we needed, and I think that the boys will remember cake of the day for a long time! The location really gave us a taste of rural France, a quiet village, but no more than an hour and a half from all the attractions in Brittany. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.
The Stevenson Family, 2015
Pauline and Geof were wonderful hosts, so welcoming. We loved the honesty larder and cake of the day! It made our first family holiday with our three month old son more relaxing than we dared think possible.
The Aston Family, August 2015
The hosts couldn't have been nicer and the property is great!
The Barber Family, July 2015
Pauline was fantastic and couldn't do enough for us, her home cooked treats were wonderful. The facilities were absolutely fabulous.
The Simpson and Day Families, September 2014
What a wonderful stay we had in gite Hibou. With 2 little girls of 2 yrs it was fantastic to have all the necessities and much, much more provided. The stair gate, 2 high chairs, 2 cots and the barriers cutting off the garden were fantastic and made our holiday stress free! We had such amazing weather so the pool to swim in each day was wonderful. The honesty larder is such a lovely touch and we all thoroughly enjoyed the cakes and jam as well as the much appreciated bread and croissant delivery each day. The girls enjoyed the chickens and collecting the eggs in the mornings. We all had a great weeks holiday combining lots of relaxation and visits to the sunday market, restaurants, lake and beach. There is so much more to mention. We hope to return again next year.
The Haigh Family, September 2014
We had the most wonderful holiday in Hibou, who knew you could have a relaxing holiday with four littles aged 3 months to 5 yrs! We hugely appreciated the cake, bread and wine on arrival. We loved and took great advantage of the honesty larder - it was very exciting to see what delicious cake was written on the blackboard each day! It was also so well equipped for our kids. They loved the playroom, DVD's, pool and toys and playing in the garden with the cat. Entertained kids = relaxed mum and dad. A wonderful truly restful week.
The Holland Family, August 2014
We had a lovely stay in Hibou. We enjoyed the pool, play room and hens. Good day trips to the coast, the Fort La Latte and the lake.
The Rimmer Family, August 2014
We all thoroughly enjoyed our week's holiday in Hibou. The memories of feeding chickens, checking for eggs and watching the combine harvester will stay with the kids for months if not years to come. Hibou was a great home from home and the perfect place to stay for a holiday in Brittany with children. We can highly recommend the area and had some great days out. The beautiful birthday hamper was the perfect treat, even if I did have to share the cake with the rest of the family!

The modern fitted kitchen is kitted out with everything needed to make a tasty snack or sumptuous family meal and includes an oven/hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.
The stairs, with a child gate at the top and bottom, lead to three charming rustic eaves bedrooms - all with pine floor boards, and electric heating if required.
The master bedroom, with a king size bed, benefits from an en-suite shower room and there is a second double bedroom both with velux skylights.
A third bedroom is ideal for several children to share as it has two sets of bunk beds and charming views over the courtyard.
All the bedrooms provide space for a cot.
There is also a separate modern shower room on this floor.
The outside area at Hibou is spacious and well-designed with young families firmly in mind.
At the front of the gite, off the courtyard, there is a private garden with a table, chairs and parasol - perfect for dining al fresco - as well as a barbecue and lawned area with swings.
This leads, through a secure gate, to the swimming pool and lawned play area, shared with one smaller gite.
The large, heated 11m x 4.5m swimming pool is open every day during the summer..
It is ideally situated in a sunny spot and there are plenty of loungers and parasols for relaxing with a good book while the children play.
There is also an inflatable paddling pool especially for the very little ones and a selection of pool toys.
While there's also an outdoor play room, an Aladdin's cave for the children and home to a selection of quality toys from a wooden dolls' house, cooker and garage to a dressing up chest and building blocks. An extensive collection of DVDs and books for all ages are stored in this building along with buckets, spades and fishing nets.
There is also an honesty larder, in the old wood store off the central courtyard, where store cupboard essentials and fresh products, including a courtyard herb garden, as well as homemade preserves and baked items are available.
Guests can also help themselves to herbs growing in the kitchen garden - while the children can help collect eggs provided by the resident hens.
To make life even easier, fresh baguettes and croissants can be delivered to the gite daily - and are free on the first morning of your holiday. And there is also a selection of themed baskets of edible goodies that you can pre-order to be in the gite on your arrival.
Away from the peace and relaxation of Hibou, you'll discover the local area offers lots of attractions for the whole family to enjoy.
Hibou is situated in the centre of the historic hamlet of Rosquelfen. There are no amenities in the village apart from the early 16th Century Chapel and some lovely leafy walks round the lanes
A five minute drive down leafy lanes takes you to the nearest village of Gouarec, where there is a wider selection of eateries, cafes and shops, a Friday market and, for the children and young at heart, mini-golf.
There is also a full-length indoor swimming pool, open all through the summer.
The village is built on the banks of the Nante-Brest Canal and the towpath is perfect for walking and cycling. Why not pack a picnic as there are plenty of picturesque spots to enjoy a bite to eat? The canal is also a haven for bird watching, so keep an eye out for kingfishers, herons and other waterfowl.
The scenery around Gouarec is said to be among the most beautiful in inland Brittany, with acres of woodlands and pretty pastures attracting fascinating flora and fauna.
And, after exploring, if you fancy a romantic evening in one of the local restaurants then Hibou's Hosts are more than happy to babysit free of charge.
Lac de Guerledan - a superb leisure lake and the largest in Brittany - is just a few minutes' drive from Hibou, where you can swim, fish, sail, windsurf, water ski, hire a canoe, kayak or pedalo, enjoy a lake cruise...or simply laze on the safe, sandy beaches. And if that isn't enough to keep the family busy, there's also an outdoor sports centre on the lakeside.
The local area is steeped in history and tradition and the restored 12th century Bon Repos Abbey, a short drive away in Saint-Gelven, is a popular attraction. The abbey hosts exhibitions of contemporary art, a sound and light show in August and a market in the grounds on Sundays between March and October with wonderful Breton produce and delicacies.
If you feel like travelling further afield, then the beautiful Pink Granite Coast - so-called because of the colour of its rocks - is well worth a visit. One of the most beautiful stretches of Brittany's coastline, it is renowned for its pretty bays and rock pools - perfect youngsters to try their hand at crabbing.
While the medieval town of Dinan, less than an hour-and-a-half from Hibou, is reputed to be one of the most attractive and best preserved in the region. It's cobbled streets are filled with half-timbered houses, art galleries and craft shops and there is also a 13th century castle, housing the town museum, and an attractive port with lots of waterside restaurants.
