Great care has been taken to turn this beautifully-restored Breton-style 16th century stone cottage into a truly family-friendly holiday gite.
Ideally located in a peaceful and beautiful corner of rural Brittany, Gite Bleu provides the perfect holiday accommodation to enjoy a quality get-away-from-it-all holiday.
And while the outside space offers a haven of relaxation for grown-ups, children will be delighted with the outdoor play room, swimming pool and lawned garden with table tennis table, hopscotch, swings and badminton net.
If you can prise the family away from the comfort of Gite Bleu, then there is a selection of shops, restaurants and bars just five minute drive away in the pretty village of Gouarec.
If holidaying with friends, check out Hibou (3 bedrooms) in the same setting.
The Miller Family, April 2016
Our hosts contacted us prior to the holiday to check we had everything we needed and were very accommodating when we arrived. There was an issue with the property we booked so we were placed in a different one on arrival. The house was lovely and heaters were provided as it was still a little chilly. The honesty larder with daily delicious cakes and condiments was a lovely touch as was the bakery delivery service for breakfast. Was great not having to take everything a toddler needs as it was all there waiting for us. Loved the cakes! And the play barn is a great idea and was really well stocked. The welcome drinks and cakes were a really thoughtful idea and the bakery run for breakfast was great - lovely to come downstairs to fresh pastries.
The Aitken Family, August 2014
What a wonderful holiday we've had. A perfect location to explore Brittany and a beautiful place to stay. All of the little touches in the bedrooms delighted our children. They also loved the play barn with all the toys, games and puzzles and enjoyed making use of the pool. We enjoyed the fresh eggs, daily pastry deliveries and Pauline's treats from the larder. A great first holiday with the children, we would definitely recommend.
The Colley Family, August 2014
We had an excellent stay in Gite Bleu. Superb gite, fantastic weather, wonderful hosts. Tommy (aged 2) adored the pool, the toy car and the chickens, although one did steal his brioche! It was a great holiday, we'd happily have stayed forever.
The Aston Family, August 2015
The hosts couldn't have been nicer and the property is great
The Holmes Family, August 2015
Perfect holiday for us all, accommodation lovely and well serviced, honesty larder superb, hosts really friendly with great advice on the local area, and facilities for toddler couldn't be improved. Wouldn't change a thing.
The Sugrue Family, 2015
Lovely set up, lovely hosts. Overall we had a great 1st holiday with our 9 month old.
The Barnwell Family, 2015
Property fantastic - only wish there had been a bath for even further unwinding :)
The Roche Family, July 2014
We enjoyed every minute of our holiday in Gite Bleu. From the moment that we arrived we felt welcome and completely at home. Pauline has gently looked after us (and the kids when we had our night out) with bread and croissants in the morning, and fresh eggs in the larder, which is a brilliant idea. It's all so good, easy and comfortable from the moment you get there. We will be back.
The Gebbie Family, May 2014
Gite Bleu is a very charming gite with very accommodating owners. Our stay was relaxing with plenty to do for our children, ages 1 and 7. Centrally located to get to most parts of Brittany. The morning delivery of croissants was a highlight as well as Pauline's cakes and homemade peach jam from the honesty larder. We had a wonderful evening out and an amazing meal with a free night of babysitting. We would definitely recommend.

A blissful week. Cottage and grounds beautiful, fabulous area especially the Lac de Guerledan. Kids loved collecting eggs and playing with the kittens! Pauline and Geof were wonderful hosts. We had such a lovely time, I am doing my best to hang onto that holiday feeling... we haven't stopped taking about what a lovely place it was. Thank you.
The Baxter Family, July 2013
What great hosts and a fab location. The playbarn, pool and enclosed garden are fab for kids. Glorious countryside and a lovely gite. Wonderful place to holiday with children.
The Casey-Leigh Family, August 2013
We have enjoyed a fabulous week in this lovely gite. The area has great places to explore. We have loved the friendly hosts and sharing the fresh produce. The pantry is a god send - not so good for the hips as Pauline is an excellent baker! Will recommend this gite to friends and family.
The I'Anson Family, August 2013
Had a fantastic week here in glorious sunshine and lovely accommodation. Geof and Pauline are great hosts and very welcoming.
The Chamberlain Family, September 2013
Fantastic stay, lovely area and surroundings at Les Hirondelles. Celebrated our daughter's first birthday and Pauline made a beautiful cake. Very enjoyable and relaxing stay.
Family stayed September 2013
We joined for a week our daughter's family who were staying in Gite Bleu for severeral weeks and had a wonderful time. The facilities in the gite were good and details carefully thought for the needs of young children including babies. We especially enjoyed the heated swimming pool with the family and BBQ's in the private garden. The owners will make sure you feel at home, a lovely touch was the basket of croissants and bread waiting for you by the door in the morning. A very relaxing holiday.

As this is a cluster property, not all the equipment is in all the gites all the time. It is therefore important that the items you require are requested before arrival so that the items can be placed in your gite prior to arrival.
The open plan ground floor layout of this bright and airy cottage is perfect for families with babies and toddlers.
The large living room has lots of seating for everyone to relax in comfort, an original granite fireplace housing a wood burner and a window seat overlooking the attractive courtyard.
The modern fitted kitchen has all the equipment needed to rustle up a quick snack or cook a full scale family meal and includes an oven/hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.
Head up the gated stairs to two lovely, rustic eaves bedrooms and a shower room.
One double bedroom boasts wooden beams, Velux windows and wooden floor, while the other is a twin room also with Velux windows and with space for a cot.
Electric heating is available in the bedrooms if required.
Step outside Gite Bleu and you'll discover a paradise for children of all ages...and plenty of places for the adults to kick back and relax.
A door from the living area opens onto a private and enclosed lawned garden with swings, a small patio furnished with a table, chairs and parasol - the perfect spot for enjoying a glass of something chilled when the children are in bed - and a brick-built barbecue.
This leads, through a secure gate, to the swimming pool and lawned play area, shared with one other gite.
The large, heated 11m x 4.5m swimming pool, usually open from early May to late September, is sure to be a hit with the children and grown-ups alike. There's also plenty of sun loungers to make the most of the Bretton weather.
An inflatable paddling pool is available for the tiny tots and there's also a good selection of pool toys.
If the children are looking for other sources of entertainment then the small play barn won't disappoint. Packed with toys including a wooden dolls' house, cooker and garage to a dressing up chest and building blocks.
The building also houses a large collection of DVDs and books for all ages as well as buckets, spades and fishing nets.
The lawned play area also has a table tennis table and badminton net.
Store cupboard essentials and fresh products, as well as homemade preserves and baked treats, can be purchased from the honesty larder, in the old wood store off the central courtyard.
Fresh baguettes and croissants can be delivered to the gite daily - and are free on the first morning of your holiday. There's also a selection of themed baskets of edible goodies that can be pre-ordered.
Guests are also welcome to pick herbs from the kitchen garden and it's unlikely the children will turn down an offer to help collect eggs laid by the resident hens.
After a few days enjoying the delights of Gite Bleu, venture further afield to discover the beauty and history of the local area.
Gite Bleu is situated right in the centre of the historic hamlet of Rosquelfen. There are no amenities in the village apart from the early 16th Century Chapel and some lovely leafy walks round the lanes.
A five minute drive down leafy lanes takes you to the nearest village of Gouarec, where there is a wider selection of places to eat, cafes and shops, a Friday market and, for the youngsters, mini-golf.
There is also a 25m indoor swimming pool that is open every day during the summer.
The Nante-Brest Canal runs through the village and the towpath is perfect for a safe family walking or cycling trip.
For more outdoor fun Lac de Guerledan - a huge leisure lake - is just a few minutes' drive from Hibou. Here you can swim, fish, sail, windsurf, water ski, hire a canoe, kayak or pedalo, enjoy a lake cruise...or relax on the safe, sandy beaches. There's also an outdoor sports centre on the lakeside.
History buffs will want to pay a visit to the restored 12th century Bon Repos Abbey in nearby Saint-Gelven. There are regular contemporary art exhibitions and a farmers' market on Sundays between March and October.
The magical sound and light show, every August, recounts Brittany's history from Neolithic times to the Revolution and features hundreds of actors, scores of dogs and horses and ends with a parade of 500 flaming torches and a firework display.
Further away, but well worth the trip, is the medieval town of Dinan, about an hour-and-a-half from Gite Bleu. The town is one of the best preserved in the region with pretty cobbled streets and half-timbered houses.
There's also art galleries and craft shops, a 13th century castle housing the town museum and an attractive port with waterside restaurants. If you're feeling energetic, climb the 158 steps to the top of the clock tower for an amazing view...Mont Saint Michel can be seen on a clear day.
The beautiful Pink Granite Coast - so-called because of the colour of its rocks - is also well worth discovering. One of the most beautiful stretches of Brittany's coastline, it is famous for its pretty bays and rock pools - perfect for sandcastle building, paddling and crabbing.
If, after a day's exploring, you fancy a romantic evening in one of the local restaurants then Gite Bleu's Hosts will be happy to babysit free of charge.
