Indoors & Outdoors

Indoors

Villa Dos Piedras is a light and airy single-storey modern villa with simple, modern decor and furnishings.

The first living room offers plenty of space with huge sofas for the whole family to unwind together and features all the essentials including a flat screen television with satellite channels, DVD player, WiFi and air conditioning. Patio doors open onto the extensive outdoor terraces.

Four steps - with a safety gate at the bottom - lead up to a lovely large combined living room, dining area for eight and well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, oven and hob, toaster, kettle, microwave and coffee maker - and wine cooler too. This family area features an eye-catching traditional Canarian wooden ceiling and a further three patio doors provide access to the terraces.

When it's time to turn in after a day of relaxing or exploring, head for one of the four cool  bedrooms . One features a modern en suite shower room and patio doors to the pool area. A second also benefits from an en suite shower room. All the bedrooms offer space for a cot. The impressive family bathroom has a real wow factor with its fabulous circular sunken bath.

Parent points:

  • Split level living areas – gated at the bottom of the steps
  • One of the bedrooms has double doors directly to the pool area so we advise that these are kept closed
  • The main bath is accessed up a step; caution is required as it becomes slippery when wet

Outdoors

The outside fully-enclosed living space at Villa Dos Piedras has been carefully designed to ensure families can make the most of Lanzarote's wonderful weather.

The spacious covered terrace offers fantastic elevated views across the Atlantic Ocean to neighbouring Fuerteventura and features a dining table and chairs and built-in barbecue - all that's needed for enjoying fabulous al fresco meals. There is also plenty of comfortable outdoor seating, the perfect setting for a daytime chill out.

The large swimming pool (10m x 5m at it's maximum) heated from November to April  is separated from the terrace by a secure fence, which can be removed if not required.

Beside the swimming pool are beautifully-manicured volcanic gardens and a pool table for older children...and the young at heart.

There is also a private parking area with access to the gardens.

Parent point:

  • Many of the indigenous plants can be spiky, so do point this out to little ones who might be tempted to explore the flower beds
  • There is a flight of 12 steps up from the car parking area to the villa garden so care will need to be taken on these and when in the garden
  • Although not usually needed pool heating is available in the summer months of May to end October and can be requested at the time of booking at an additional cost of £90
  • The pool has wide gentle steps down into the water but does not have a specific shallow area in the main part of the pool

What's Around?

Venture outside the villa and the family will discover Lanzarote's unique appeal.

Enjoy the beaches and resorts, but also take time to travel further afield and experience the stunning volcanic landscape and history. At just 37 miles long and 12 miles wide it's easy to explore this beautiful island.

There's no shortage of things to see and do - from riding a camel, exploring a volcano, visiting a vineyard, learning about pirates to finding a real-life deserted island - Lanzarote has something to appeal to every age.

Lanzarote's northern coast is wild, wind-swept and dramatic with salt lagoons, iridescent green lakes, black beaches and mountain sides sweeping into the Atlantic Ocean. In contrast, the island's southern tip, away from the lively resort of Playa Blanca, has wonderful sandy coves and calm warm waters.

The resort of Puerto del Carmen has an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars and a long sandy beach with sunbeds and a host of water sports available.

Further afield, Timanfaya National Park's lava moonscape and extinct volcanoes is a popular attraction and organised tours include an exhilarating coach ride.

Lanzarote's most famous son, artist César Manrique, influenced the distinctive whitewashed cuboid buildings found all over the island. His studio-home, created out of five giant lava bubbles, is in Taro de Tahiche and his last house, in Haría, contains some of his personal effects.

Discover a more traditional side of Lanzarote in Haría and the coastal fishing villages around Arrieta. Or head for Papagayo, on the southern most tip of the island, and then up into the hills for lunch in Femes; don’t be surprised by the offer of grilled goat (it’s a local speciality) or try the fresh catch of the day.

For those who love keeping active the island's sporting facilities are first-rate and cyclists, runners, golfers, surfers and windsurfers will all be in their element.
