While Longeveau offers the essential kit items and much more there are some items that must be reserved in order to ensure availability for your stay due to limited stocks.

The following items must be reserved in advance;
• TV / DVD
• Hairdryer
• Booster Seat
• Blackout blinds or curtains/shutters
• Children's DVDs
• Freeview channels

Le Figuier is a super holiday hideaway, with spacious and extremely comfortable open plan living and sleeping accommodation.

In the sitting area there's plenty of plush seating and  for your entertainment a television, DVD player, freeview box and a selection of DVDs are available on request from your hosts at time of booking. You could even bring along your family's favourite DVDs.

A wooden dining table and chairs seat four - although the Charente sunshine may tempt you outdoors to dine al fresco on the shaded front terrace.

The small fitted kitchen area has all the essential to make holiday living simple including an oven/hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.

Also on the ground floor is a pretty twin bedroom and a modern shower room.

Upstairs, with child safety gates at the top and bottom, there is a tranquil master bedroom - with feature ceiling beams - and benefitting from a stylish en suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower

Both bedrooms have room for a cot.

Immediately outside Le Figuier's front door is a covered terrace furnished with an outdoor dining table and chairs.

This leads to the fully-enclosed and lawned garden with views over the heated swimming pool and Dordogne countryside beyond.

There is a barbecue for cooking up al fresco meals and sun loungers for relaxing with a book or dozing.

Le Figuier shares a super heated swimming pool with four other properties in L'Hammeau.

Conveniently located just a couple of steps from the front garden, the pool has a shallow end for toddlers and babies and is fully-enclosed by a wall and fence with a secure gate.

Poolside loungers provide the perfect spot to keep an eye on the children and can be positioned in or out of the sun.

The close proximity of the pool means the baby monitor - one of the items supplied in our Tots Essential Kit Guarantee - is within range of the swimming pool allowing you, if you so wish, to take a dip while your little one is having an afternoon nap.  Being so close also means the sound of families enjoying the pool can be heard in the gîte and garden.

Just a short walk from the gîte are the resort's wide range of other family-friendly facilities.

Parent Points:

  • There is a single step from the front garden up to the terrace and front door of the gîte
  • A considerable distance - on the other side of the golf course - from the gite there are two open lakes which, because of their size, can not be fenced for safety

View Longeveau Resort

And Beyond

While it would be easy to spend your entire holiday holed up in the resort - thanks to all the activities and services on offer - it is worth making the effort to discover the surrounding area.  From family-friendly attractions to fabulous beaches and picture-perfect villages the Dordogne/Charente area has plenty to appeal to all ages.

There are a number of pretty villages within easy reach of Longeveau, with the nearest being Saint-Séverin just 5km away.

There are several small shops, including a bakery, butcher, chemist and supermarket, and local services.

A popular small market is staged every Thursday morning.

About the same distance in the opposite direction is Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne, officially one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Built on a hillside above the river Dronne, this picturesque village features narrow streets, shady squares and interesting architecture.

Children and grown-ups alike will enjoy the puppet theatre in the central square, showing classic tales such as Beauty and the Beast and Ali Baba.  The shows are extremely popular and booking is essential to guarantee a seat.

The village is famous for its Underground Church of St Jean, or monolithic church, carved out of the rock.  It is enormous, 20m at its highest point making it the tallest structure of its kind in the world, and memorable.  A stone staircase leads up to the first floor where there is a spectacular view of the interior.

Another church worth visiting is the Romanesque St Jacques, boasting a beautiful 12th century facade with finely carved arches.

The children will love the village's river beach - with fresh sand shipped in at the start of every summer.  As well as being perfect for picnics and paddling, there's also a children's playground, canoeing, kayaking and fishing - plus a great cafe.

Bonnes is another pretty village in a lovely location on the Dronne river and less than half an hour from Longeveau.

Here you'll find a pony club for children of all ages and abilities and the relaxing Circuit de Bonne 11km countryside walk - or cycle if you prefer.

The village holds a festival in August when the grand finale is a spectacular fireworks display.

The rather quiet town of Riberac comes alive every Friday morning when it stages, what is reputedly, one of the biggest and best markets in the Dordogne.

Just 16km from Longeveau, there are also lots of local shops, including wine caves, a couple of big supermarkets and plenty of child-friendly restaurants.

Free music evenings are held in the town square on Tuesday nights in July and August.

La Jemaye

This little hamlet is well-known for its large swimming lake with beaches, a play area and family-friendly eateries and is an easy half-an-hour's drive from Le Figuier.

There are also woodland walks and a hide to watch the birds on the lake.

During July and August there are sporting and activities and events, including water skiing and cycling.

The ramparted city of Angoulème is the capital city of Charente and home to stunning architecture, traditional markets and beautiful gardens.

A 45-minute drive from Longeveau, the city centre has a multitude of shops from familiar high street names to traditional French boutiques.

Take time out to visit one of the many pavement cafes or dine in a choice of child-friendly restaurants.

The city is the world capital for Bande Dessinée - comic strip - and many of the buildings are decorated in this style.  There's also a fascinating museum dedicated to the art.

In Angoulème's mountain shopping zone you'll find more active fun for youngsters at Kizou Adventures -  an indoor playground with ball pools, ropes and soft play, for little ones aged from six months to 10 years.

And just outside the city is the fabulous Plan d'Eau water lake with several beaches - perfect for sandcastle building and paddling - and a wide range of water sports.

Cognac, about an hour away from Longeveau, is famous for the grape-based spirit made in the town for more than 300 years.

By the river you'll discover the ancient warehouses that still store barrels of cognac and are blackened by the alcohol evaporating.

A cruise on a replica gabarre, the traditional flat-bottomed oak boat that once transported cognac, salt and other produce, is a great way to see the town from the river and takes about two hours.

Getting around on foot is easy and there are signposted walking routes leading visitors to explore different parts of the town.

Unsurprisingly, one of the most popular tourist attractions is a tour of one - or more - of the many cognac producers.  You can discover more about the drink's history, how it is made and, of course, sample the finished product.

For the children, the Les Antilles de Jonzac indoor water park is close to Cognac and promises a fun-packed visit.

Mum and dad might also find the fitness and health centre and beauty area makes the trip even more worthwhile.

For the little ones the water park's centrepiece is a main lagoon with beaches, palm trees, a tropical glasshouse, slides and water toboggan ride.

For more serious swimmers there's a 25m sports pool and games and events are organised for children and teenagers.

The fitness and health centre includes Turkish and Roman baths, a sauna, jacuzzis and a solarium - and, if you're feeling energetic, a fully-equipped fitness area.

A beauty area offers a variety of treatments and spa treatment services.

For those who enjoy wine, Saint-Emilion produces some of the finest Bordeaux in the world.

The village, about an hour-and-a-quarter from Le Figuier, is surrounded by vineyards and chateaux and there are lots of opportunities to sample and buy.

There are pretty winding streets to wander, pavement cafes and restaurants to while away a few hours, local shops, and historical buildings and monuments.

The Romanesque church features a beautiful 14th century cloister and there are magnificent views over the town and vineyards from the top of the bell tower.

There's an equally impressive view from the top of the Chateau du Roy 13th century donjon.

A labyrinth of passages and rooms run deep under the village and guided tours take in the catacombs and the impressive buried monolithic church, the biggest in Europe.

There's also an underground pottery museum with exhibits from the Roman period to modern day.

The coast is about a two-hour drive from Longeveau - and some of the best beaches in the area can be found at Arcachon and Royan.

Arcachon is a popular seaside resort with superb stretches of sandy beach, a picturesque sea-front promenade and plenty of shops, bars and child-friendly restaurants.

The resort is also home to Aqualand water park with rides and slides for all ages which is open throughout the summer.

Royan's beaches are among the finest in France.

The main 2km long La Grande Conche has a special children's section with a variety of activities and a lifeguard in the summer.

North of the town is a series of sandy coves and further north still are unspoilt and wild stretches of beach.

And more....

A host of other leisure activities are available within the local area from jet skiing and quad biking to mini-golf and go-karting.

The local villages and towns also host a variety of family-friendly festivals, fetes and fireworks displays throughout the summer.

Before booking, please read our Terms and Conditions.
