The following items will be available to use in the restaurant: high chair, booster seat, steriliser, microwave, food blender, plastic crockery and cutlery.
The rooms do not have DVD players, however there are English speaking channels and children's movies on demand.
The family rooms are suitable for either two parents and one child or a single parent with two children.
Cool, calm and inviting, the stylish large bedroom has a double bed finished in crisp white bed linen. There is a spacious dressing table and big cupboard with plenty of storage including an electronic safe. A single bed or cot can be added to this room for a child or baby.
There is a wall-mounted television, mini bar, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and telephone.
A spacious en suite bathroom is attached. These rooms have showers, rather than baths but a baby bath is available should you need one. Toiletries and hair dryer are provided.
But it is outside that you will be drawn to. The warm air scented by bougainvillea beckons you through double doors to your private terrace. A squishy sofa provides the perfect spot to take in the views over the pretty bay.
Children should be supervised when on the terrace. There is a slight gap between the wall and the edge of the terrace railing, not large enough for a child to fit through but caution should be paid regardless.
Due to the nature of the resort set on the side of a steep hill, most of the suites are accessed via steep stairs. Children should be supervised on these as they are not gated. You may also find requesting a room close to one of the lifts more convenient if you are travelling with younger children.
Wow! Where to begin....
Within the resort, there is a dedicated section exclusively for children. Situated toward the back of the resort, it has two swimming pools, four waterslides, a huge sand pit, craft tables, activity sessions, mini football and basketball, discos, Playstation, and games. Children aged four to seven attend KidSide club here, which runs from 9.30am to 6pm. Friendly, trained enthusiastic staff will keep your young ones entertained and younger children are also welcome here accompanied by a parent.
Babies and toddlers are catered for wonderfully at meal times. Hillside has its very own ‘Baby Chef’ and of course all the kit you might need for eating with very young children is provided. Evening babysitting in your suite may be available on request depending on how busy the hotel is. This is something you can request in advance when you are there if you wish.
Older children aged eight to thirteen will enjoy Junior Club. With their own space to hang out in, kids will be kept busy by professional staff as they play ball sports, water sports, do sailing courses, hip-hop lessons or learn to be a DJ. At night, football tournaments are held or they can just chill out with the Playstation, WiFi, electronic darts or various games until 11pm.
Teens will get over the awkwardness of not knowing anyone when they head to Young Club. For teens aged between fourteen to seventeen year olds, they’ll quickly make friends doing water sports, DJ courses, water polo, bingo, beach volleyball, hanging out in the Young House jacuzzi or hitting the dance floor.
Beaches and swimming
Yes, that is beaches plural, because this resort has three private beaches each set in its own little totally private cove... The Main Beach, with a Blue Flag rating, is dotted with sun loungers both on the natural tiny pebbles and on floating sunbathing pontoons. This beach is open to all guests and is home to bars, cafes, water sports and a 315 metre swimming lane across the bay.
Silent Beach is one of two adults-only beaches, accessed by a short waterside walk. No mobile phones are permitted, so that you can completely unwind to the gentle sounds of the sea and the clean smell of pine trees. It is also home to the Sanda Nature Spa and early morning yoga classes; the ultimate place to restore your soul.
For even more escapism, try Serenity Beach, the second adults-only beach. To find this hidden gem, either hop on the complimentary boat service from the main beach or follow a 650 metre path through a natural forest with stunning views across the bay. Get a refreshing drink or light lunch from Serenity Bar while you’re there.
Back in the resort, there is an impressive swimming pool spanning 760 square metres, surrounded by loungers, including a shallow area for children.
Restaurants and bars
You have a choice of three wonderful restaurants at the resort. All your meals are included in the price. Soft drinks and local alcoholic drinks are included in the main restaurants, but incur an additional cost at the other two restaurants.
The Main Restaurant is set out buffet style with various cooking stations, offering tempting treats like Turkish pizza or warm chocolate soufflés. This also has the baby buffet, making it easy to feed little ones. You can get breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea here.
Pasha on the Bay is the perfect spot for a romantic meal without the kids. This adult-only Hillside restaurant has an à la carte Mediterranean menu. This is also the place to get a light late breakfast if you’ve had a lie in or participated in an early morning yoga class.
The Beach Bar and Restaurant serves light snacks all day, including a barbeque from midday. In the evening, dine on Italian cuisine under the stars with the sea lapping just feet away.
There are also several other bars including the romantic Abacco bar where many of the evening performances are shown, the Pasha Bar, Blue Bar, Pool Bar, Beach Bar, and Fitness Bar.
Whether you prefer high octane motorised watersports like water-skiing, hanging out on a trapeze on a catamaran, gentle sailing, canoeing, or getting up close to sea life with scuba and snorkeling, you can do it all at Hillside. You can either have a go at a range of watersports or do a complete course and specialise in one.
The resort is the first official water-skiing and wake-boarding school in Turkey, while divers can obtain SSI, PADI and CMAS certificates. Sailing certificates are also offered. Note that these courses carry an additional charge, as do all motorised watersports.
Land based sports
You could leave this holiday fitter than when you arrived! From the extensively equipped gym to the comprehensive fitness class timetable, there is plenty to get you working up a sweat.
Beyond zumba and pilates, you can also hit the tennis courts, play beach volleyball, basketball or football. Have a go at archery, Latin dance, water polo or aqua fit. Or hire a mountain bike and go explore the surrounding countryside. Tennis lessons are available for a fee.
Arts and crafts
If you prefer something less active, release your inner creativity by attending some of the art classes on offer. Marbling, silk painting, mosaic, ceramics, jewellery design, and painting are all available at an extra charge.
You have a choice of two spas at the resort for complete pampering.
The Sanda Nature Spa, situated next to Silent Beach, immerses you in natural tranquility.
Treatment rooms are a mix of indoors and out with the gentle sounds of the sea, a warm breeze and scents of fresh pine to soothe you. Treatments are performed by Balinese therapists. Even if you are used to spas – this one will genuinely impress you with its extraordinary setting within the trees.
The Sanda Spa is a tranquil oasis in the heart of the resort. Featuring a Turkish bath, sauna, jacuzzi, snow fountain, and seven massage rooms. You can enjoy a proper Turkish bath before relaxing in the spa lounge.
You could just enjoy a quiet drink at one of the many bars or on your own private terrace, but if you prefer a more up tempo evening, there are plenty of shows, parties and events throughout your stay. Some of the special events include Zumba fitness parties, watch a movie on the beach or enjoy a full moon party. There is also a disco at Pasha on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for the over 18s.
There are several boutiques and shops on site, a hairdresser, photographer, ATM, currency exchange, internet cafe and ice-cream parlour.
The entire resort is enclosed but there are large open spaces throughout. Children should be supervised at all times when not at kids’ club, particularly around swimming pools.
The live entertainment can involve stage shows and music, so on occasion can be heard in the background across the resort until around 10pm; when we were there it was certainly not sufficient to disturb our enjoyment and could not be heard in the suite.
With so much to do within the resort, you really won’t want to leave. But if you prefer to explore, there are several ways to do it.
Hillside is just 4km from Fethiye, a charming Turkish town in a secluded bay forming a natural marina dotted with islands. Stroll around the bazaar or try out a variety of freshly caught fish, authentic kebabs and Turkish pizza at the seafront cafes.
Turkey is awash with history and there are many excursions you can do on your own or with a guide from the resort.
Kaya Köy (22 mins) is a ghost town kept as a museum village with hundreds of rundown but still mostly standing Greek style houses and churches which cover a small mountainside.
Öludeniz (23 mins) has one of the most photographed beaches on the Mediterranean. With its 40 metre deep blue lagoon, this national nature reserve is famous for its magnificent shades of turquoise and aquamarine and frequently rates among the top five beaches in the world.
Tlos (50 mins) is an important religious centre featuring an acropolis and perpendicular cliffs carved with sarcophagi and tombs. Slightly further on is Saklikent Gorge, a water-carved canyon where you can walk, swim in hot springs or go rubber tubing.
Xanthos (1 hour 10) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed as the city which destroyed its own acropolis and people rather than succumb to the Persian Empire. Today it is a treasure trove of ancient monuments, tombs and architecture.
There are many other destinations if you are willing to travel further. Simply ask the team at Hillside Outside to book a tour or hire a car and self drive.
Explore the nearby bays and islands with one of the boat trips from the resort. Hop on board a traditional Gulet, a luxury yacht or a smaller sailboat and the captain will show you this stunning bit of coast. You could head to Fethiye and its bazaar or take a full day trip around 12 islands.
Alternatively just explore the beautiful Fethiye and Göcek bays, or try a sunset trip or a moonlight cruise.
Fishing trips can also be arranged accompanied by a master fisherman.
For the adventurous, there are plenty of excursions to explore in this part of Turkey by foot, bike, horseback or jeep safari. Try trekking between Kaya Köy and Afkule Monastery. The Sunset Trek offers incredible views of the evening skies as they change colour with the setting sun. Be led on an off-the-beaten track mountain bike adventure combining nature with historical finds. Or head off road in a jeep or more sedately on horseback to explore the hidden gems dotting this landscape.
Before booking, please read our Terms and Conditions.
