Indoors

Villa Acacia offers a spacious and modern family-friendly open plan layout, with high quality decor and furniture throughout.

The villa combines traditional Algarve design with ground-breaking and ecologically-advanced construction techniques including a clever ‘Coolhouse' system which brings cooled air inside through underground tubes to ensure a constant temperature day and night.  Heating is also installed for comfort in the winter.

The large split level living area, comprising the sitting room and combined kitchen and dining space, is light and bright thanks to lots of windows and two sets of patio doors opening onto the partially shaded terrace.

The sitting room has comfortable leather sofas for cuddling up together in the evening or taking a break from the sun.  Entertainment is provided by a LCD television with English-speaking channels and a DVD player.

Three steps up from the sitting room is the double-height kitchen diner.

The modern fitted kitchen has plenty of space for the whole family to get involved and the usual mod cons including an oven/hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washer/dryer.

The dining table can seat up to six adults and is perfect for casual meals with the children or an evening get-together.  Of course if you enjoy eating outdoors, there's the furnished terrace.

There are four fabulous bedrooms - two doubles, two twins (one with an additional pullout bed).

The master bedroom has a king size bed and an en suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower. The second double also has a king size bed and en suite shower room. Both bedrooms have ample space for a cot.

The twin bedrooms are perfect for children and share a modern family-sized shower room.

A wooden staircase, with child safety gates at the top and bottom, leads to a gallery landing, with seating, a second dining table and chairs, music centre and games.  This area offers lots of additional living space - great as a hide-away for older children or an adults-only space.

Two sets of patio doors open onto an upper south-facing terrace - perfect for the grown-ups to relax with a glass of something chilled when the children are tucked up in bed - with gorgeous panoramic views over the garden and beyond.

Parent points:

  • Although gated top and bottom, the open tread staircase and banister design could encourage children to climb so please take care
  • Young children should be supervised by an adult when on the mezzanine landing.
  • Children should only be allowed on the first floor terrace when supervised by an adult.

Outdoors

Villa Acacia's fully-enclosed south-facing rear outdoor living space is just as impressive as the inside of this lovely holiday home.

The dining terrace, accessed from the living areas, is partially covered by attractive sail shades and equipped with a charcoal barbecue for creating al fresco meals.  The terrace is separated from the pool and garden areas by fencing and gates and commands fabulous views across the Burgau valley to the coastal hills.

Steps from the terrace lead down to the lower level garden and inviting 9m x 4.5m heated swimming pool.  The pool, with Roman steps for easy access, will appeal to both keen adult swimmers and little ones who like splashing around and features a 'KatchaKid' net for safety when not in use.

Grown-ups not taking the plunge can keep an eye on the children from the poolside terrace with sun loungers.

The large garden is landscaped with lawned areas, colourful Mediterranean plants and mature tea trees providing privacy.

There is plenty of room for the children to run around and play.

Parent point:

  • The front driveway opens onto the road, which is only used by resort traffic, but children should be supervised at all times when at the front of the villa
  • Take care if you are adventuring further afield, as there is a limekiln monument on the grounds, where there is a drop; it is in a remote part of the resort but if you do come across this, please take care

This is an ideal holiday destination whether you want to keep the kids busy, try something new, or simply relax together as a family.

Tennis Club

Enjoy a game of tennis on one of the club's four floodlit synthetic grass courts available to hire or sign up for adult or children's lessons with the resident coach.  Racquets are also available to hire.

Children's Playground

In a lovely location close to the tennis club, on the edge of a shady pine copse, the fully-enclosed children's playground features lots of fun equipment like slides and swings.  Grown-ups can keep an eye on little ones from the wooden benches.

Mini Football Pitch

Adults and children will find this grass pitch is perfect for five-a-side football or a knockabout with friends.

Spa & Beauty Treatments

Can be booked to have at your villa.

Exercise Studio

The exercise studio offers group classes and activities including yoga and dance.

Babysitting Service

If you fancy spending some quality time together as a couple, or maybe want to take time out to pursue separate activities, the resort offers a baby sitting service for an additional charge.

And more...

The resort has a number of other activities and added extras including mountain bikes to hire for exploring the resort's trails and local area, table tennis, plus for an additional charge, home-cooked meals, chef service and supermarket delivery.

Venture beyond the resort and you'll discover pretty villages, lively towns, beautiful sandy beaches and family attractions all within a short drive.

Burgau

Burgau, the nearest village, is just a five-minute drive from the resort and has a small supermarket and shops and a number of restaurants, bars and cafes, many of which are child-friendly.

The golden sandy beach is popular with families and has an excellent beach bar.

Praia da Luz

The pretty whitewashed village of Praia da Luz is less than a 10-minute drive to the east and is home to a wider selection of restaurants and cafes, two supermarkets, plus a chemist, dentist and doctor's surgery.

There is also a lovely low-key beach where the The Beach Hut Watersports Centre offers a host of activities including sea bird and dolphin-watching trips as well as a water sports kids' club for eight to 16-year-olds with sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, kayaking and banana rides.

Lagos

Although the largest town in the area and popular with tourists, Lagos still manages to retain its traditional charm.

A 20-minute journey from the resort, there is plenty to enjoy and explore.

The super five kilometre long golden sandy beach is ideal for picnics, paddling and sandcastle building and the kids will love the 'pirate ship' trip on an old Portuguese Cravelle.

The Saturday morning farmers' market - Portuguese style and very different to those in the UK and France - has lots of home-grown produce.

The busy fish market, with a top floor restaurant enjoying stunning views over Lagos Bay, opens early every day.

If you are feeling peckish there are a lots of child-friendly restaurants and pavement cafes lining the cobbled streets.

In the summer evenings head for the town square to watch the street entertainers.

For the children, there's the popular Lagos Zoo, the fun Children's Science Centre or go-karting at the Autodromo.

Loule

For a more traditional taste of Portuguese life, it's worth taking the hour's drive to the pretty town of Loule, famous for the imposing walls of the 13th century castle

There are art galleries, a museum, several interesting churches and lots of cafes and shops in the criss-crossing network of cobbled streets.

The daily market is a lively affair and there are popular music festivals during the summer.

Golf

The Algarve is famous for golf, so if you fancy a round there's no shortage of courses close to the resort with several suitable for skilled players and those less experienced.

And More...

Whatever your family's interests you're sure to find something suitable in the local area - whether it's sailing and scuba diving, pony trekking and bird-watching or Portuguese cookery and painting lessons.
