Indoors & Outdoors

Indoors

The Croft is a three-bedroom cottage in a private area of the resort; as you enter through the front door, turn left and you’ll find yourself in a large open plan kitchen, living room and dining room, which is very modern with a fully-kitted out kitchen and comfy sofas.

Two bedrooms lead off the living area with a twin bedroom to one side, which is next to a family bathroom.

To the other side, there is a double bedroom, which has a six foot emperor-sized bed and an en suite shower room.

When it is sunny, take advantage of the outdoor sitting area, where you can enjoy a drink and snacks.

Wander up gated stairs to find the master bedroom, which takes up the entire top floor, perfect for if you are travelling with grandparents or another couple, as it is very separate.

The upstairs bedroom is formed in an octagonal shape with an emperor-sized bed and an en suite shower area.

Parent Points:

  • The outside area is not enclosed so please keep an eye on children at all times when outdoors, or when the patio doors are open

Outdoors

The Valley is a secure and gated complex, perfect for families, and there’s plenty to do, too.  Several leisure facilities are open from Easter until the end of October, plus, there is a fun outdoor play area, where little ones can climb and play.

The leisure facilities (open from Easter to the end of October) include an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, a fitness suite and a spa pool for relaxing; there are beauty treatments and massages available, too.

The pools are both heated, with wide roman steps in the indoor pool and a separate toddler pool outdoors, perfect for toddlers to splash and play in.

If you want to explore the Cornish countryside, The Valley offers self-guided walking itineraries, so you can wander at your own pace.

Café Azur restaurant is open from Easter until the end of October and serves a range of delicious locally-inspired dishes, which can also be delivered to your door out of season, or orderd to take away in peak season, if you fancy a family night in.  Children under five can eat for free.

What's Around?

Truro

The city of Truro is a 10 minute drive from the resort, where you can explore shops, cafes and restaurants as well as the theatre and cathedral; Truro is absolutely stunning with streams and rivers winding in and out of lanes and alleys, plus there are lots of parks to stop off and play in.

The Royal Cornwall Museum is the perfect day trip to learn a bit about the local culture, and you’ll get a chance to see a real Egyptian mummy. Other exhibitions include natural history, ethnology, and fine and industrial arts.

If you’re stopping off for food, Fig Café is perfect for a coffee, and if you order a hot chocolate for the little ones, they may draw a teddy bear into the foam; they serve delicious homemade cakes and pastries.

Trennick Mill is a child-friendly restaurant that serves a range of classics as well as afternoon tea, and Mini Tea for the little ones.  They have highchairs available as well as colouring book and crayons.

Falmouth

It is a 15 minute drive to the lovely port town of Falmouth, which is home to the National Maritime Museum as well as some lovely beaches.

From the port, you can go on a fun boat trip, including sea safaris, where you can discover wildlife, shipwrecks and smugglers’ tales.

Falmouth Beaches

Falmouth has four lovely beaches to explore, but the most popular with families is Gyllynvase Beach, which is a Blue Flag beach where the sand is raked clean every morning in the summer; it sits in an arc of golden sand, perfect for sandcastle making.

The facilities include a large car park 100 yards away and clean public loos 20 yards away; it is only a 10 minute walk from the town centre and the beach has flat access, which is ideal if you have a buggy.

There is a beach café, which is open all year and serves food made from local produce - delicious.

Swanpool Beach adjoins Swanpool Lake Nature Reserve and, if you’re visiting during the summer, there will be a bouncy castle on the beach for the little ones to enjoy.  Head to the nature reserve to see lots of birds and aquatic life, or take a trip to the award-winning beach café for sandwiches and ice cream.

Pendennis Castle

For a fun family day out, head to Pendennis Castle in Falmouth, which has loads of history: it was originally one of Henry VIII’s coastal strongholds and more recently used as a secret base in WWII.

The views from Pendennis Castle are the best in Falmouth, but it is also a great trip on a rainy day as most of the activities are indoors, including loads of interactive displays and activities that the little ones will love.

There is a fantastic tea room, which is a great pit stop, especially as they serve special kids’ portions and children’s lunch boxes, with gluten- and dairy-free cakes and snacks available.

A few months of the year, the castle is only open on the weekends, so please check before you visit.

Newquay

If you fancy a day trip to Newquay, it is just a 30 minute drive away; there’s plenty to do including the undersea safari at Blue Reef Aquarium and Newquay Zoo, which is next to the water park Waterworld.

Head to Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, Fifteen Cornwall, for lunch, which has stunning views across Watergate Bay; the menu changes daily as the restaurant only uses the best ingredients from Cornwall and Italy.

They serve a kids’ lunch menu and you don’t need to book, just pop in from 12 noon to 2.30pm.
