Dettmar Family, August 2019
We loved our week at this villa. A fantastic location and we had a fun packed week visiting the local lake, water park, canoeing on the Dordogne river, visiting and eating at the local villages which all regularly held markets and other events. Then back to the villa, which has the biggest pool we’ve seen in a holiday home, drinking rose on the hammocks whilst the children played safely in the large enclosed garden with its stunning views. Lots of happy family memories!
Gold Family, August 2019
We had a fabulous holiday at Le Petit Tournesol. The house is beautiful, so peaceful and quiet and surrounded by fields. We all loved the swimming pool and it was the main focus of our holiday. Would of benefited from having a parasol by the pool though as there is limited shade. The house itself it quaint and very French with lots of character. The rooms are comfy, and much cooler downstairs on a hot and sunny summers day. Would love to return thank you.
The Kaemena Family, July 2017
Wonderful stay in a wonderful little place. Perfect for exploring a magical area of France.
Family stayed August 2017
We can honestly say we have not had the “post-holiday blues” about a vacation for as long as I can remember. Little things keep reminding us of the stay in your amazing villa and wishing we were still there. It certainly did make our summer and indeed our entire year. We are already considering a return trip!
The Mould Family, August 2017
A beautiful house with tranquil and calm surroundings. The children loved the hammocks and the pool and the shaded garden meant lunches outside everyday. The local amenities were excellent and there are amazing restaurants to eat at for all ages. There is lots to do nearby for children of all ages. We had an amazing relaxing but also adventure filled holiday. A great place to stay.
The Van't Erve Family, May 2016
We had a fantastic stay at Le Petit Tournesol. The accommodation was beautiful and the surroundings very tranquil. Our children loved playing in the garden, swinging in the hammocks. The heated pool was an absolute bonus as it meant every day of our holiday was great fun, even if the weather was not so bright. We travelled with an 8 month old baby and two small children and there was everything we needed to keep them entertained and well looked after. We would definitely recommend a trip to this lovely gite!

Your own private hideaway, this lovely cottage has characterful interiors, with stunning exposed wood ceilings throughout.
Step into the living room with sloping ceilings and comfy sofas, the perfect spot to snuggle up for bedtime stories before you tuck the little ones off to bed.
A beautiful wooden beamed wall divides the living room from a lovely open plan kitchen diner, with books slotted between the beams; the living room leads through to a twin bedroom.
Step through to the kitchen area and you’ll find a lovely sitting area to your left, snuggled round a log burner, where you’ll want to cosy up if you’re visiting in the colder months.
The kitchen is fully fitted with a big range cooker and a dishwasher; to the left of the room a doorway leads down a couple of steps to a shower room, a separate loo and a full family bathroom, where there is a washing machine hidden away in a cupboard.
The bedrooms are split between the ground floor and the first floor. Through the dining area, there is a big double bedroom and stairs leading from the dining room to a further twin bedroom; at the top of the stairs, you will find a twin and the master bedroom both beautifully tucked away under the eaves.
There is plenty of room for a cot in all of the bedrooms and the shuttered windows make the bedrooms dark enough for everybody to have a good night’s sleep.
The cottage is set in a stunning countryside location with views out across the fields from all angles.
The patio terrace outside is the perfect spot to sit in the sun, looking out across sunflower and corn fields nearby.
The fully enclosed gardens are a great place to let the little ones play and run around without any worry and the private pool is accessed on a separate terrace.
Wander up a few steps and through the gate to the pool (10m x 5m) where the whole family can splash and play; the pool is heated with a metal ladder into the water.
The cottage is set in a lovely countryside location with lots of little local villages to explore; the nearest town is Villeréal, the main town in the canton of 13 villages. The town is stunning with beautiful old buildings.
Wander around the shops, including an international supermarket, or pop to the tourist office to learn about the local area.
If you’re out shopping or exploring and fancy a bite to eat, treat yourself to a trip to Patisserie Salon de The Damien Blanchard, which serves delicious pastry breakfasts, through to wonderful cakes; the kids (and adults) will love the delicious hot chocolate, which is made from real chocolate.
In the evenings, head to La Dolce Vita, a child-friendly restaurant, with high chairs available that serves delicious home cooked food made with fresh produce.
Perfect for anyone who is looking for a delicious meal in a relaxing environment, the owner personally welcomes each customer and the meals cooked up by the chef have a creative flair.
Alternatively, try Le Gourmet, a very authentic French restaurant, which serves beautifully cooked food and lovely local wine; all of the dishes are cooked to order and served with seasonal vegetables.
It is a 20 minute drive to the vineyard region of Bergerac, where the perfect spot for a day trip out is the Bridoire Castle, which has been carefully restored from a near-ruin to suit the whole family.
Even before you get inside, the little ones will be entertained by all of the games that are dotted about, and once you get inside, there are different medieval themed games in each room, too.
Take a picnic with you to enjoy on the shaded tables outside, or take a trip to the café, which serves homemade food.
If you get the chance, pop into Rody Chocolaterie, which serves wonderful chocolate that can be wrapped up into lovely boxes for you – perfect as a little gift to take home.
If you fancy an evening meal before heading back to the cottage, try La Grappe d’Or, a child-friendly restaurant with highchairs that serves traditional local cuisine.
Make sure you check before heading there, though, as they are closed from mid-January to mid-February every year, as well as every Monday, Tuesday and Sunday. In July and August, they are open every day of the week.
For family fun, head to the Aqua Park, which is in Bergerac; if you get the chance, hire a box, which comes with sun loungers, chairs and parasols, so the family can spread out in your own personal space all day.
There are pools and slides, including a shallow pool and smaller slides which are suitable for the little ones, as well as a soft play area and a climbing frame.
The café serves food, refreshments and the all-important ice cream, and if you fancy a treat, head to the spa, which has a sauna and hammam.
