This was our first time abroad with our twins and it could not have gone any better. Everything with the property and location was simply perfect and the whole Tots To Travel process gave us peace of mind during what could have been quite a stressful time. The host was excellent and it would be remiss not to mention the amazing food she offers to guests. La Laiterie was a fantastic base from which to explore a beautiful part of France. We had been worried that being abroad with the twins meant we wouldn't be able to get out and about too much, however, I don't think I've ever had such an eventful holiday. Drives to multiple beaches, the zoo, castles, Bordeaux and of course many French supermarkets were all entirely manageable. Just perfect

Our two year old absolutely loved it here! The house is in a very rural and quiet location which suited us well. Janette was a brilliant host and we would highly recommend her cooking, restaurants don't open til 7 which was too late for is so Janette's meals were a great option. The house was well equipped and very clean, the selection of books and DVDs were an added bonus. There were plenty of toys both inside and out. Easy, pram-friendly walk to the nearest shop. As mentioned in other reviews, the stairs and floorboards are very creaky so we had to avoid going upstairs after our daughter was in bed. La palmyre zoo was about an hour away and we really recommend it. We also went to the beach which was 30-35 mins away. But our daughter was always happy to get back to the Wendy house!

We had a great stay at La Laiterie with our toddler and baby. There really was everything needed for our little ones which made packing so much easier! The accommodation and surroundings were lovely, especially the huge garden, our 2.5 year old had loads he could play with and on!! The owner can provide meals with notice, we kept her very busy as she cooked for us five times, it was such a treat. The only negative was the creaky floorboards upstairs and the stairs themselves, every step we took was extremely noisy, not ideal for light sleepers. Overall a great holiday. Thank you.

The directions to our accommodation were good which made the end of a long journey hassle free. We had a nice surprise on arrival because the owner had left us homemade cake and biscuits, cheese, bread, butter and milk. We took advantage of the home-cooking service a few times during the week. It was amazing every time. The accommodation was clean and extremely well equipped. Our children (3 & 4) loved playing outside on the climbing frame and in the little wendy house. The gardens were beautiful. It was a shame we couldn't see the outside play equipment from the gite because it meant one of us had to go with them every time. It was also a bit unfortunate that the upstairs floor of the property was extremely creaky…it made it hard to get toddlers off to sleep and to stay asleep when you went up stairs. On our holiday we suffered a little from being too early in the season (June). Some of the local things to do didn't open until the French go on holiday in July. However, despite this we had some lovely days out (Palmyra Zoo, beaches around Royan and pool complex at Jonzac).

The upstairs flooring was incredibly creaky, liable to wake up everyone if you got out of bed at night. Otherwise it was a wonderful place to stay - great to have bikes to borrow for kids and adults, so many toys and a great outdoor space.

Outdoors
Outside this gite is a pretty fenced garden, plenty of shady play space and a decked patio for al fresco dining on the long balmy evenings. You can try your hand at a barbecue, having purchased some tasty ingredients at the local markets. Pretty bordered paths lead you to the rest of the extensive gardens and play areas.
The enclosed grounds provide plenty of space for everyone. The highlight of which is the swimming pool, where hours of splashing fun are guaranteed, all safely fenced for peace of mind.
You will find a range of outdoor games and play areas for all: boules courts, a shady area with table football, table tennis, swings and slides, and open areas of grass for various ball games.
L'Ancienne Ferme has both adult bikes, with helmets and baby seat or baby trailer, and children's bikes (with helmets) available, for those wanting to take one of the many routes direct from the property and take a quick trip to the local village to get those fresh croissants for breakfast.
The group of gites has a kitchen garden and the owners are happy to share the fruits and vegetables of their labours with their guests. You can't get much fresher than that! It is the beautiful gardens that really make L'Ancienne Ferme a magical picturesque place. You half expect to find an artist or writer pondering under one of the many trees, or for the little ones Peter Rabbit munching in the kitchen garden.

Set in beautiful countryside, surrounded by farm and woodland, there are plenty of lovely walks direct from the property. A 15-20 minute walk (1km) will take you to the local village, where there is a local shop that stocks baker's bread and croissants; the journey there is along quiet country lanes, although there are no pavements, just grass verges.
A stunning, gentle sandy beach is just 35 minutes drive away; it's very child friendly and many of the coves have small cafes serving fresh moules - a perfect end to a day in the sun and sea. There are plenty more beaches within easy reach up and down the coast and for a great day out you can drive to Royan and La Rochelle for some busier seaside activities and great shopping.
For an energetic wet and wild day out with a tropical theme, take your costumes and towels to Antilles de Jonzac; a huge water park with lagoons, slides, waves, and for those of you with a few moments to spare take advantage of the spa facilities for a bit of well deserved pampering.
If you fancy a bit more of hustle and bustle, the famous town of Cognac is just 45 minutes away. Here you will find plenty of restaurants, shops and of course all of the world famous Cognac houses, many of which are open to the public and offer guided tours around their caves and distilleries. You can even have a tasting session if you like.

- Walk out cleaning service is included in the cost, if the house is left in a reasonable condition. Otherwise, there is an additional 40€ charge. Cleaning during your stay is available at 10€ per hour.
Swimming Pool:
As the swimming pool is not heated, it will be open for use in the summer season and possibly early autumn, realistically from May to early October. The temperature of the water is dependent on the prevailing weather conditions.
