Our little boy (2.5yrs) absolutely loved his bedroom and all the toys provided here. The property was exactly as it appeared on the website and easy to find. It was very well equipped for a holiday with children, even more so than we had expected. We were a little unlucky with the weather but did manage a couple of dips in the pool. The local town of Sommieres was lovely, with more restaurants than I had expected. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would certainly recommend it to anyone with a young family.

We enjoyed our holiday very much. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and Aubriete fit all of us very well. We loved the pool and playroom for the kids. The friendly horse across the road was a bonus! We also enjoyed the laundry machine so we could wash clothes. Sophie made us a french cooked meal that we highly recommend to others. Only thing that could have made it better was air conditioning!

We stayed at Aubriete during some very hot July weather (34+ degrees Celsius) for one week with our two small boys (a one year old, and a two and a half year old). My parents also accompanied us. We had a fantastic time. The property was lovely and spacious. The fact there were no stairs made it so much easier with a baby and toddler. It was in pristine condition and immediately felt like a home from home. The place was so safe as we had a lovely gated terrace so the boys could skip/crawl in and out of the gîte without us having to worry about them roaming off. The pool was well protected with a gate and we really enjoyed spending time there. There was also lots of little trikes and ride on tractors etc which the boys loved. The gîte was filled with books and toys for them to play with and a paddling pool was also supplied on our terrace, which our boys got great use out of. It meant we could sit and relax at our outdoor dining table and have them splash about at our feet. There is a carrefour and an Intermarche within five minutes drive, really easy to find. Sophie our house manager provided us with a beautiful home cooked meal one of the evenings and there was also pizza delivery close by which was nice because we didn’t have to cook every night. My husband and father really enjoyed using the bbq as well, a really good weber one which made it easy to cook. We didn’t venture too far away, just to the loca village of salinelle to buy bread and also into sommiere but there are plenty of places to visit close by. We were happy to chill out and hang out at the pool, swings/slide and games room. I was worried that a lack of air conditioning might pose a problem, however the gîte was lovely and cool at night, we did use the fans in the bedrooms two nights but the weather was very hot during our stay. The boys room was lovely and cool and well blacked out so they slept very well. All in all a superb holiday! Thanks to Sophie for all her help also - we had an issue with our buggy wheel and she came around with some tools to help fix it. Great service.

We had a wonderful time at the Water Mill. Fantastic accommodation, facilities and location. The apartment was beautifully done, and we think pretty much everything had been thought of (from toys and dvds for the children, to torches, tupperware and shopping bags); we also really appreciated the supply of holiday rental essentials (washing tabs, bin bags etc) being generous - much better than most other places we have been to. The playground and games room were great, and the pool lovely: warm, with seating both in the sun and shade. The location was super - a shortish drive from the airports, NImes, Montepellier, and the sea for easy daytrips, Sommieres, only 5 minutes drive away, was beautiful, with an atmospheric weekend market, and Salinelles, which is easily walkable, was very pretty and has an excellent little bakery. Best of all was spending evenings on the balcony gazing up at a ridiculously star-filled sky watching the bats and listening to the owls! Idyllic.

I've been on a few holidays with my boys and each and every one of them has been in some way a bit of a disaster! The location and property means everything and for twin parents, I think you'll know what I mean when I say sometimes it's just not worth the hassle. This holiday however was completely different and I put that down to the TotsToTravel ethos of creating family friendly holidays with minimal hassle for parents. Each property is fully childproof and has a bundle of toys as well as other features that are all carefully selected to ensure parents and children have everything they need on their holiday. The package at Aubriete included a fridge full of food, an hour long massage, 4 hours babysitting and a pizza night. All four were so appreciated and just added to the holiday vibe. The food was just perfect as it meant we didn't have to rush out to find a supermarket after our journey to France with two spirited two year olds who by the time we arrived we were and truly ready for their nap! The gite itself was just perfect - all on one level so no worries about falling down stairs and all cupboards had child locks on so no problems there at all. The living room had a large playmat filled with toys so the boys instantly made themselves at home! We had a little front garden with a secure fence which we adored as it meant the boys could run in and out of the gite as they wanted and we didn't have to worry about them wondering off anywhere. The pool is shared with the two other gites which was actually so lovely as it meant the boys had some friends to play with and kept them amused for just that little bit longer! The games room which is right by the pool was just incredible - filled with toys, games, inflatables etc. We were able to sit by the pool and hear them laughing and giggling to themselves whilst we sunbathed! This was something I didn't think was possible with our two little terrors! The local area has so much to offer - we went to an aqaurium, petting zoo, montpelliers historical centre and the beach! There was also a dinosaur park and soft play which we didn't make it to but we'll just have to go back again to complete our tour of toddler friendly sites to see! I had my massage in the evening whilst the boys were asleep and I've never felt so relaxed. What a treat and just what a twin mum deserves! We made the most of our free babysitting and went to a fantastic bar in Aubais which we are both pining for already! It was set in an old vineyard and as you can imagine the wine was just amazing. We sat by an old barrel listening to cafe del mar type music eating tapas not quite believing how lucky we were! We also went in to Sommieres which is stunning and just 5 minutes from our gite. The market on a Saturday is amazing and well worth a visit. Wendy who is part of the TotstoTravel team popped her head in to say hello and was fantastic with helping us find things to do in the local area. The Totstotravel team put our minds at rest with any issue we had and I would 100% recommend their properties as unlike other sites, all their properties have been visited and given a thorough once over to ensure they truly are toddler friendly. If they don't pass the test - they don't get in! Our boys are active and by that I mean, challenging...and by that I mean hooligans! But our lovely gite had so much to offer that we actually had the best time we've ever had with the boys and we thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is nervous about taking their little one's away on holiday. Indoors
With floor to ceiling windows, this ground floor holiday home is cool and bright and fabulous for families making the most of the indoor/outdoor life that epitomise family holidays in France.
Inside, the beams, stone arches and stone floors give the property plenty of character whilst still having all the mod-cons associated with modern life. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, fridge, coffee machine, oven and hob and is open onto the dining area which has a large dining table easily seating eight.
Stone arches separate the living room from the kitchen area. The living room has a double sofa-bed, TV and DVD player and with views of the private enclosed terrace and the countryside beyond.
There are two double bedrooms (one with a cot, the other has space for a cot) and one child's room with twin children's beds. There is also space for a travel cot if needed. This child's room does not have external windows but high internal ones fitted with blinds, that look into the living room and one of the double bedrooms. This holiday home boasts a stunning, large bathroom with an old roll-top bath, stone sink and open roman shower.

Outdoors
Aubriete has its own enclosed private terrace with views over towards the garden and the river beyond. Here there is a barbecue and garden furniture for lazy days outside.
The heated, saltwater infinity pool is shared with the other the two holiday homes and overlooks the river and the views beyond. Here there is an array of blow up pool toys for endless hours of water play.
And there's plenty to do outside the water too. The communal play room provides a shady play option whilst the fenced playground has swings, slides and a play castle for burning off energy.
For exploring the local area there is an array of bikes to borrow, for both adults and kids, as well as a choice of safe places to go.
The Water Mill has two hectares of land along the Vidourle River. This is a perfect stretch of river for some gentle paddling or for playing with fishing nets. Two kayaks are also available for great adventures with a picnic or for a quick paddle around.

- This property is situated next to a river - However, unless you leave the mill land and venture out to the road or go through the locked gate you can not access the river, but parents should be aware.
Family holidays in France would not be complete without some outings to explore the local area. ...And there are no shortage of things to do in this part of France.
Just five minutes away is the pretty town of Sommiers with its cobbled streets and olde-worlde feel. Here there are lots of boutiques, bars and restaurants as well as a fantastic weekly market.
Special events include a night market throughout July and August as well a medieval fete in April. In addition Laurence Durrell once lived here and there is a museum to celebrate his life and achievements.
For keen riders are several riding stables within 15 minutes' drive and the team at the Watermill are happy to book lessons on your behalf. Down on the coast, at Stes Maries de la Mer it is possible to book a sunset ride on the beach, just let the team know if that is something that you would like to do.
The Romans had a big influence in this part of France which is clearly evident in the beautiful cities of Montpellier and Nimes (just 30 mins away). The Roman arena at Nimes hosts bull fights and concerts and the likes of Elton John, David Bowie, Dido & Pavarotti have played here.
Nimes is famous for the ‘Feria' or festivals that are held on bank holidays throughout the year. The town comes alive with colour and life and the bulls are run through the street.
Montpellier meanwhile is a hugely vibrant centre with plenty to ‘ooh' and ‘ahh' at! The city itself however is an utter gem, best explored by foot.
The large ‘egg shaped' Place De La Comedie with its beautiful Opera House, bars and cafes forms the heart of the city but it's definitely worth nipping down the back streets to find the hidden squares with their lively cafes, bars and restaurants, galleries, boutiques and churches.
The real delights are off the main trail and remain out of view to the majority of tourists!
If you're in search of indoor activities, this is the place to come. The list includes an Aquarium, a planetarium, indoor climbing courses, ice skating, and cinemas with English movies.
For memorable family holidays in France, do have a trip down to the beach. There is a wide choice of gentle, sandy beaches with the Mediterranean lapping benignly at the shore. These are just 30 minutes from the Watermill and we suggest that you get advice about which ones to choose.
Other ‘must-see' in the area include the Pont Du Gard aqueduct, the Haribo Sweet Museum or the beautiful town of Avignon.
And a holiday in France would not be complete with a taster of this region's greatest export, the wine! If you'd like to take your ‘taster' to a deeper level then private wine tasting tours can be arranged complete with a chauffeur!
